The short answer
Why Blinkimg is the best TinyPNG alternative
TinyPNG compresses well, and its free tool stops early. Blinkimg keeps the one-drop simplicity and lifts every free limit that matters: more files, bigger files, more conversions, and a size you set.
01Images per batch
50TinyPNG: 20
A whole shoot in one drop
Drop 50 photos at once and take them back as one ZIP. TinyPNG's free tool stops at 20.
02Largest free file
30 MBTinyPNG: 5 MB
Camera files go in whole
A photo straight off a camera often passes 5 MB. Here it fits, with room to spare.
03Free conversions

The engine searches quality, then pixels, and never returns a file over your number.

TinyPNG turns every HEIC into JPG. Here it can leave as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.

The TinyPNG image compressor: what it does well, and where it stops
TinyPNG is one of the best-known image compressors, and its results are good. Its limits are about volume and control, not quality.
What TinyPNG does well
✓
Clever PNG compression
It reduces the colours in a PNG so the file shrinks with little visible change. That palette trick is where TinyPNG started.
✓
More formats than most
Its FAQ lists JPEG XL, AVIF, WebP, JPG, PNG and animated PNG, and the web tool converts to AVIF, WebP, PNG and JPEG.
✓
Plugins and a CDN
An official WordPress plugin, a Figma plugin, an image CDN, and Zapier and Make integrations.
✓
A mature API
Resize by scale, fit, cover or thumb, convert, and keep copyright, GPS or creation date on request. 500 free compressions a month.
Where TinyPNG stops
✕
20 images and 5 MB on the free tool
Web Pro lifts the file cap to 75 MB and Web Ultra to 150 MB.
✕
3 free conversions
Web Pro keeps the 3; only Web Ultra converts without a limit.
✕
No size target
You cannot ask for a file under 50 KB. You compress, check the size and try again.
✕
HEIC always becomes JPG
Its FAQ says HEIC files are converted to JPG automatically.
✕
Web plans renew yearly
Web Pro ($3.25) and Web Ultra ($12.42) are priced a month but billed once a year.

Our numbers on real files, and how to test both
Every figure is a file our engine produced. Run the same files through TinyPNG and compare the bytes: that is the only test that settles it.

Auto is the setting the tool opens with. The JPG capped at 50 KB came back at 48.7 KB, −91.6% from the original. PNG, Auto uses a colour palette, as TinyPNG does.
Rule 1
Use the same source file
Compress the original on both sites, never one output again. A file compressed twice tells you nothing.
Rule 2
Ask for the same format
Compare JPG with JPG and WebP with WebP. A WebP beside a JPG measures the format, not the tool.
Rule 3
Look at 100%, then read the bytes
Open both results at full size. If you cannot see a difference, the smaller file wins.
Every byte count is the size of the actual file our engine produced from the named source, the same bytes you would download, not an estimate. The reference photo is one of our own photographs, an iguana on a branch, and the camera photo is a real one too. Drop your own file into the tool above to rerun any of them. How we measure names the sources and the settings.

ImageOptim is a free, open-source Mac app. It compresses without losing quality by default, strips EXIF and GPS, and handles JPEG, PNG, SVG and animated GIF.
iLoveIMG is a toolbox: compress, resize, crop, convert, upscale, remove backgrounds and more, one tool per task, 30 files and 200 MB a task on the free plan.
Kraken.io offers lossy, lossless and expert modes, and an API that reads HEIC, AVIF and PDF. Its free web interface is small: 1 MB files, 20 per batch.
Pick by the limit that stops you. Three of the six picks are not ours, because the table says so.

Edge cases
The awkward files, answered
What happens to the files that trip compressors up, on each side. Where TinyPNG publishes nothing, the card says so.
A transparent PNG
Blinkimg
PNG, WebP and AVIF keep the transparency. Saved as JPG, the background turns white, because JPG has no transparency.
TinyPNG
PNG keeps full transparency, by its FAQ. Its API converts a transparent image to JPG only when you give it a background colour.
A photo with GPS in it
Blinkimg
EXIF and GPS are stripped by default. Tick Keep EXIF metadata to keep them.
TinyPNG
Unnecessary metadata is removed by default, by its FAQ. Its API can keep copyright, location and creation date.
A file that is already small
Blinkimg
If re-encoding would make it bigger, you get your original back, never a larger file.
TinyPNG
Not stated.
A size that cannot be reached
Blinkimg
The engine lowers quality, then pixels, down to 64 px on the long side, and says so plainly if 10 KB is still out of reach.
TinyPNG
No size target, so nothing to miss.
An animated image
Blinkimg
Refused with a clear message: animated WebP, AVIF sequences and GIF are not supported yet.
TinyPNG
Animated PNG is supported, by its FAQ.
A 50 MB camera file
Blinkimg
Over the 30 MB free cap. Pro takes 90 MB a file and Pro Max 1 GB.
TinyPNG
Over the 5 MB free cap. Web Pro takes 75 MB and Web Ultra 150 MB.
A 150-megapixel photo
Blinkimg
Free and Pro take up to 100 megapixels. Pro Max reads a JPEG up to 400 megapixels and returns it at 100 or less.

Privacy
Is it safe to upload? How each side handles your files
Both services upload your images to their servers and delete them on a timer. Here is what each one states, in its own words.
Blinkimg
Deleted within 24 hours
An automated sweeper wipes every upload and result within 24 hours, and after that we keep nothing. Nobody can switch it off.
Metadata stripped by default
Camera details and the GPS position stay out of the result unless you tick Keep EXIF metadata.
Never used for training
No image and no result trains a model, ours or anyone else's. Nobody opens your files.
Where it runs
On our servers in Boston, United States. When they are busy, in Google's Northern Virginia region, in memory only.
TinyPNG
Deleted within 48 hours
Its terms say uploaded images are stored, optimised and deleted within 48 hours.
Metadata stripped by default
Its FAQ says all unnecessary metadata is removed, which can reset the DPI or colour profile.
Request logs for 31 days
A log entry holds the browser, IP address, any API key and a fingerprint of the file, deleted within 31 days.
A Dutch company
Tinify B.V., of Hoevelaken in the Netherlands, calls itself GDPR ready and compliant and uses processors in the EU, US and Australia.
If an image must never leave your device, neither service fits. Use a tool that runs in the browser, such as Squoosh or Optimizilla.

The same side-by-side treatment for the other tools people leave for Blinkimg.
TinyPNG's figures come from its own pages; ours are the limits the tool enforces and the files the engine produced.
Q:What is the best TinyPNG alternative?
For batches and exact sizes, Blinkimg: 50 images at 30 MB each, a target in KB that is never exceeded, and HEIC to JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, 10 at a time, free with no signup. For files that must stay on your device, Squoosh. For an offline Mac workflow, ImageOptim.
Q:Is TinyPNG free to use?
Yes. The web tool is free for 20 images at 5 MB each and 3 conversions, by TinyPNG's own pages on September 29, 2026. Its API gives 500 free compressions a month. Web Pro costs $3.25 a month and Web Ultra $12.42, both billed yearly.
Q:Is TinyPNG trustworthy?
TinyPNG has run since before 2014, the year its FAQ says it added JPEG. The same FAQ says only you can access your uploads and that they are deleted after 48 hours at most. Blinkimg deletes files within 24 hours and strips GPS from every output by default.
Q:Is Optimizilla better than TinyPNG?
They suit different jobs. Optimizilla, now at imagecompressor.com, runs in your browser and gives every image its own quality slider. TinyPNG uploads your files, picks the quality for you, and converts to WebP and AVIF. Neither compresses to a size in KB; Blinkimg does, 50 images at a time.
Q:Which sites like TinyPNG are worth trying?
Pick by the limit that stops you. Squoosh and Optimizilla compress in your browser, so nothing uploads. ImageOptim works offline on a Mac. ShortPixel suits WordPress. Blinkimg takes 50 images at 30 MB each in five formats and holds any size in KB you type, free with no signup.
Q:What is the best lossless image compression tool?
For true lossless, where every pixel stays identical, use a desktop tool such as ImageOptim on a Mac or Caesium on Windows. In Blinkimg, a PNG saved at Quality 100 is truecolour and lossless. Auto uses a colour palette instead, which is lossy but far smaller.
Q:Does TinyPNG reduce image quality?
Slightly, by design. TinyPNG's compression is lossy: it reduces the colours in a PNG and re-encodes a JPEG, aiming for no visible difference. Blinkimg's Auto works the same way. When every pixel matters, set Quality to 100 in Blinkimg, and a PNG stays lossless.
Q:Can TinyPNG compress an image to a specific size in KB?
No. TinyPNG has no size field, so a form that wants a JPG under 100 KB means compressing, checking and trying again. In Blinkimg you type the number into Max file size. Our reference photo, a 576.8 KB JPEG, came back at 99.7 KB under a 100 KB cap and 48.7 KB under 50 KB.
Q:How many images can TinyPNG compress at once?
20 on the free web tool, at 5 MB each, by its own page. Web Pro and Web Ultra lift the count, and only Web Ultra uploads folders. Blinkimg takes 50 images at once on Free, 30 MB each, and paid plans take any number, zipped in parts of 200.
Q:What is TinyPNG's maximum file size?
5 MB per image on the free web tool, 75 MB on Web Pro and 150 MB on Web Ultra, by TinyPNG's pricing page. Blinkimg takes 30 MB a file on Free, 90 MB on Pro and 1 GB on Pro Max, which also reads a JPEG up to 400 megapixels.
Q:Does TinyPNG support HEIC photos from an iPhone?
It accepts them and converts every HEIC to JPG automatically, by its FAQ, so an iPhone photo cannot leave as WebP or AVIF in one step. Blinkimg decodes HEIC and writes the format you pick: our reference photo saved as a 343 KB HEIC measured 267.4 KB as JPG and 121.9 KB as AVIF.
Q:Does TinyPNG keep EXIF and GPS data?
No, by default. Its FAQ says TinyPNG removes all unnecessary metadata, which can also reset the DPI or colour profile, and its API can keep copyright, location and creation date. Blinkimg strips EXIF and GPS too, and keeps them when you tick Keep EXIF metadata. The rotation is applied first.
Q:Is there a TinyPNG alternative with an API?
Yes. Blinkimg's image API runs the same engine as the web tool: 500 free credits a month on every account, 1 credit to compress and 2 to convert, and packs of 5,000 for $15 that never expire. AI agents can call it through an MCP server.
Q:Is there a TinyPNG alternative that works offline?
Not a website: every online compressor, Blinkimg included, needs a connection. For offline work, install a desktop app. ImageOptim is free on a Mac, Caesium is free on Windows and macOS, and XnConvert runs on Windows, Mac and Linux, free for private use.
Q:Does Blinkimg have a WordPress plugin like TinyPNG?
Not yet. TinyPNG has an official WordPress plugin that runs on its API, with 500 free compressions a month. A Blinkimg plugin is planned. Until it ships, compress images in Blinkimg before you upload them, or call the image API from your own publishing workflow.
Q:Can I use TinyPNG and Blinkimg together?
Yes, and many people will. Keep TinyPNG's WordPress plugin on your media library, and use Blinkimg for the jobs it cannot do: a form that wants a file under 100 KB, iPhone photos that should be WebP or AVIF, or a batch of 50 that needs one crop first.
Q:Why trust a comparison written by Blinkimg?
Because every line can be checked. Each TinyPNG figure is quoted from its own pages, read on September 29, 2026, and linked in the sources. Each Blinkimg figure is a limit the tool enforces or a file the engine produced. Where TinyPNG wins, on formats and plugins, the page says so.
