JPG to PDF converter

A JPG to PDF converter puts each JPG on its own page of one PDF file. Every page is compressed on the way in, with the look kept: our 576.8 KB JPG made a 275 KB PDF, and 50 JPGs merge in one drop. Part of the image to PDF converter.

How big is a JPG as a PDF?

One real file, measured through the same path your files take.

PDFPagesEach pagePDF size
No size limit1JPEG, 273.9 KB275 KB
Under 100 KB1capped at 98.5 KB98.1 KB
Under 300 KB3capped at 99.2 KB293.1 KB

Source: photo.jpg, our reference photo (576.8 KB, 1920 × 1280), through the engine as a JPEG page at Auto and assembled by the same code as the server, then as pages under two budgets through the tool's own split. The rows are the real output.

Every byte count is the size of the actual file our engine produced from the named source, the same bytes you would download, not an estimate. The reference photo is one of our own photographs, an iguana on a branch, and the camera photo is a real one too. Drop your own file into the tool above to rerun any of them. How we measure names the sources and the settings.

How do I convert JPG to PDF?

A 1920 × 1280 JPG of 576.8 KB converted to PDF: the engine compresses it to a 273.9 KB JPEG page at Auto, and the PDF weighs 275 KB, 48% of the JPG.

Drop the JPG on the converter above and the PDF downloads when the page is done. The engine compresses the picture first, at the Auto quality that keeps a photo looking the same, then places it on a white A4 sheet. Our reference photo, a 576.8 KB JPG, came out as a 273.9 KB page and a 275 KB PDF, 48% of the file you started with. Files saved as .jpeg go through the same converter: JPG and JPEG are one format with two endings.

How do I merge or combine JPG to PDF?

Five JPGs dropped together, a receipt, a form, an ID card and two photos, become pages 1 to 5 of one PDF in the order they were dropped; up to 50 JPGs go in one drop.

Drop them in one go. Each JPG becomes a page, in the order you dropped them, and the PDF assembles itself once the last page is compressed, up to 50 JPGs in one drop. The file names do not set the order; the drop does, so select the files in page order or rename them to sort that way. A receipt run, the pages of a form photographed one by one, or a set of site photos all become a single PDF to attach once.

How do I save a JPG as a PDF on Windows, Mac or iPhone?

Built-in routes: on Windows, print the JPG to Microsoft Print to PDF; on a Mac, select the JPGs in Finder and choose Quick Actions, Create PDF, in the order you selected them; on an iPhone, export a PDF from the Preview app, then Insert from File adds pictures. None takes a size in KB.

Each system has a built-in route. On Windows, open the JPG, press Ctrl+P and choose the printer called Microsoft Print to PDF. On a Mac, select the JPGs in Finder, Control-click, then choose Quick Actions, Create PDF; Apple’s guide says the pages follow the order you selected them in. On an iPhone, open the JPG in the Preview app, tap the Actions menu button next to the file name, then Export, and choose PDF; Insert from File adds more pictures to that PDF. None of them takes a size in KB. For a PDF that must stay under a portal’s limit, use the converter above instead.

How do I convert JPG to PDF under a size limit?

A JPG to PDF under a 100 KB budget, measured: the page was capped at 98.5 KB and the PDF came to 98.1 KB; three pages under 300 KB came to 293.1 KB.

Type the limit as Max PDF size in Advanced settings. The budget is split across the pages before anything uploads, the PDF wrapper’s bytes set aside, and every page is saved under its share. One page under 100 KB came to 98.1 KB; three pages under 300 KB came to 293.1 KB. The JPG to PDF under 200 KB page and its siblings arrive with their budget already set, for the forms that name one number.

  • The portal wants a JPG upload

Some forms take the image itself. Compress the JPG to their limit instead of wrapping it in a PDF.

  • You need the pages pixel-exact

Each page is compressed at Auto. For an archive copy that must match the JPG byte for byte, keep the JPG files.

  • You need editable text

A PDF made from JPGs holds pictures of the text. Run OCR in a PDF editor to search or copy it.

Every format and budget, one PDF

The same converter under the name your file has, or with the size your form demands already armed. Under it, or a clear error, and never over.

Questions, answered

Short answers for this format. Drop a file above and the PDF settles the rest.

Is this JPG to PDF converter free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark on the pages and no charge for the PDF. Up to 50 JPGs go in one drop, each up to 30 MB, and every one becomes a page. The size limits for forms are free as well: type the Max PDF size and the budget splits across the pages.

How do I convert JPG to PDF online?

Open this page, drop the JPGs on the converter and wait for the pages to finish. The PDF assembles itself and downloads, one A4 page per image, in the order you dropped them. It runs in any browser, on Windows, macOS, Android or an iPhone, with nothing to install.

Does converting JPG to PDF reduce quality?

Not in a way you can see at the default setting. Each page is the engine's JPEG at Auto, the quality it picks to keep a photo looking the same, and the pixels stay the same size. Our reference photo, a 576.8 KB JPG, became a 273.9 KB page. Quality only drops noticeably under a tight Max PDF size.

Is there a JPG to PDF combiner that keeps the page order?

Select all the JPGs and drop them together. Each one becomes a page, in the order you dropped them, up to 50 in one drop, and a single PDF downloads at the end. To set the order, select the files one by one, or rename them so the folder sorts them in page order.

How do I change a JPG to a PDF on a phone?

Open this page in the phone's browser, tap the drop zone and pick the JPGs from Photos or Files. The PDF lands in your downloads, ready to attach to an email or a form. On an iPhone, Apple's Preview app can also export a picture as a PDF, and its Insert from File adds more pictures to it.

What page size does JPG to PDF use?

A4 for every page, turned upright or landscape to match the JPG. The picture is scaled to fit its sheet with its shape kept and centred on a white ground, so a small scan fills the page instead of sitting in a corner, and a wide photo gets a landscape sheet.

Can I convert JPG to PDF without uploading my files?

No: the pages are compressed and the PDF is assembled on our servers, which is how the size limits are kept exactly. We keep nothing. Files are processed and wiped automatically, deleted within 24 hours of upload at the latest, and EXIF metadata is stripped from every page.

How do I make a JPG to PDF under 100 KB or 200 KB?

Open Advanced settings and type the limit as Max PDF size, or open one of the budget pages, which arrive with it set. The budget is split across the pages before any upload, so the PDF lands at or under it: one page under 100 KB came to 98.1 KB in our measurement.

Can I undo a JPG to PDF merge or change one page?

Not inside the PDF here, since the converter builds a new file each time and does not edit an old one. Keep the JPGs, change the one you need, and drop the set again in page order. The new PDF is ready as soon as its pages are done, each compressed the same way as before.

Can I edit the text in a PDF made from JPGs?

Not directly. The pages are pictures, so the text in them is part of the image. A PDF editor with OCR can read the text and make it searchable afterwards. A sharp, upright scan with the edges of the table cropped away gives OCR the best chance of reading every line.
