NEET photo and signature size, from the 2026 bulletin

The NEET photo size in the NTA bulletin is a format and a KB window, not a pixel size: a passport size JPG between 10 and 200 KB with 80% face on white. The editor opens on 35 × 45 mm with the 200 KB cap and the 10 KB floor armed. One of the passport size photo sizes.

Answered

What is the NEET photo size?

A recent passport size photograph, colour or black and white, with 80% of the image area being the candidate’s face, visible including the ears and without a mask, on a white background, uploaded as a JPG between 10 and 200 KB.

The NEET photo rule from the 2026 bulletin as a checklist: a recent passport size photograph, colour or black and white, 80% face with the ears visible and no mask, a white background, a JPG of 10 to 200 KB. No centimetre or pixel size is stated.

That is page 16 of the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin (page 21 of the PDF), and it is the whole rule: no centimetres, no pixels. The checks the form runs are the format and the file size. This page opens the editor on 35 × 45 mm, 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI, a passport size frame every counter recognises. It also arms Max file size at 200 KB and Min file size at 10 KB, so the export lands inside the window without a second tool.

The rules

What do the two bulletins say, line by line?

The same window for both exams, and one difference: NEET accepts black and white, JEE Main wants colour.

Each cell is the bulletin’s own wording, fetched from the NTA’s host and read in full.

Answered

Is the NEET photo size given in pixels?

No. Neither bulletin states a pixel or centimetre size for the photograph; the hard checks are the format and the KB range.

What the NEET and JEE Main 2026 bulletins check: the format, JPG, and the file size, 10 to 200 KB. Neither states a pixel or centimetre size; this page's default frame is 35 × 45 mm, 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI.

The pixel figures on coaching sites and in resizer tools are the sites’ own, and a candidate who chases them is solving a rule the form does not run. Any passport size frame passes the size check. This page uses 35 × 45 mm, which is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI, the frame the 3.5 × 4.5 cm line on other Indian forms means; the 35 × 45 mm photo page frames it for any form that prints the size. If a later bulletin or a correction notice adds a pixel size, type it into Custom size as px and the frame follows.

Answered

What does 80% face visible mean, and how do I frame it?

The bulletin’s words are that 80% of the image area is the candidate’s face, visible including the ears, without a mask.

A photo with the 35 × 45 mm frame pulled in until the face takes about four fifths of it, the chin near the bottom edge and the hair near the top: the bulletin's 80% face, ears visible, no mask, on white.

So the face fills most of the frame: the chin close to the bottom edge, the top of the hair close to the top edge, both ears inside the sides. On the stage the frame is drawn over the photo, so pull a corner until the face takes about four fifths of it and judge the share by eye; the editor draws no guide, and the bulletin gives no band beyond the percentage. That crop needs room at the camera: a selfie framed tight leaves nothing to take in, and enlarging a small crop makes the face soft. Look straight at the lens, keep the expression neutral and the background white.

Answered

How do I get the photo between 10 KB and 200 KB?

Both ends are done: Max file size is armed at 200 KB and Min file size at 10 KB on arrival, so the export lands inside the window.

A scale from 0 to 220 KB with the bulletin's window marked, the 10 KB floor and the 200 KB cap both armed on arrival. Our reference photo lands at 39.6 KB at 413 × 531 with neither set, well inside.

At a passport size the cap rarely even bites; our reference photo weighs 39.6 KB at 413 × 531 with no cap at all, inside the window by a wide margin. The floor is armed as well: a file that would land under 10 KB gets more quality until it reaches it, never padding, and the readout under the row prints the exact size. Only a tiny crop of a tiny photo cannot hold 10 KB at any quality; the tool says so in words, and a looser crop or the camera’s original rather than a thumbnail fixes it. JPEG is preselected because JPG is the format the bulletin names, and EXIF is stripped so the file is a plain JPEG whatever phone it came from.

Answered

How do I make the signature between 10 KB and 100 KB?

Sign on plain white paper, photograph or scan it, drop it here and press the Free tile so the frame follows the signature’s own shape instead of the 35 × 45 preset.

Five steps for the signature: sign on plain white paper, scan it and press the Free tile, crop tight to the ink, change Max file size from 200 to 100 KB, then save with the 10 KB floor still armed in Min file size.

Crop tight to the ink, change Max file size from 200 to 100 KB and save. The export is a JPG at or under 100 KB, and over the bulletin’s 10 KB floor, which stays armed in Min file size: a small crop gets more quality until it reaches it. A crop too small to hold 10 KB at any quality is refused in words, and the form would reject it as surely as a file over the ceiling; crop less tightly or scan at a higher resolution and drop again. The photo and the signature are two saves in one visit, each with its own cap, both in the same download list.

Answered

Can the NEET photo be black and white?

Yes for NEET, no for JEE Main.

One photo split down the middle, colour on the left and black and white on the right: colour passes both NEET and JEE Main; black and white passes NEET only, because the JEE Main 2026 bulletin says colour.

The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says the photograph may be in colour or black and white; the JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin says it must be in colour. That is the one line where the two exams differ, and it is the one a candidate filing both should keep straight: upload the colour photo to both and nothing is lost. The Color tab’s Mono switch turns a photo black and white before Save if a NEET upload wants it, and the None filter turns it back; leave a JEE Main photo as shot.

Be sure first

When this page is the wrong tool

  • The live photograph?

The form captures it itself while you fill it in; nothing here stands in for the webcam step.

  • The class 10 certificate?

A PDF between 50 and 300 KB for JEE Main: the Image to PDF converter builds it from a scan.

  • Another exam's window?

Type its ceiling into Max file size; the 3.5 × 4.5 cm page says which portal notices we read and which we did not.

  • A background that is not white?

We frame, size and cap; we do not replace a background. Shoot again against a plain white wall.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The size is already pressed above. One drop settles most of these.

What is the photo size for the NEET application form?

A recent passport size photograph, colour or black and white, with 80% face visible including the ears and no mask, on a white background, as a JPG between 10 and 200 KB: the NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin, page 16 (page 21 of the PDF). No centimetre or pixel size is stated. The editor opens on 35 × 45 mm, a standard passport frame, with the 200 KB cap and the 10 KB floor already armed.

What is the NEET signature size in KB?

A JPG between 10 and 100 KB, on page 16 of the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin. Sign on plain white paper, photograph or scan it, drop it here, press the Free tile so the frame follows the signature's own shape, crop tight, change Max file size from 200 to 100 and save. The 10 KB floor stays armed, so a small crop gets more quality; one too small to reach it is refused in words.

Does the NEET photo need a white background?

Yes. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin states a white background, and the JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin says the same. The tool frames, sizes and caps the file; it does not replace a background. Shoot against a plain white wall or a white sheet in even light, with no shadow behind the head, and crop here. A coloured or patterned wall fails before the file size is read.

What does 80% face visible mean?

The bulletin's own words are that 80% of the image area is the candidate's face, visible including the ears, without a mask. In practice the face fills most of the frame: chin near the bottom edge, hair near the top, ears inside the sides. Drag the frame on the stage until the face takes about four fifths of it and judge the share by eye. Room around the head at the camera makes that crop possible.

Is the NEET photo size in pixels specified?

No. Neither the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin nor the JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin states a pixel or centimetre size; the only hard checks are the format, JPG, and the KB window. Coaching sites and resizer tools print pixel numbers the bulletins never mention. Any passport size frame passes; the editor uses 35 × 45 mm, 413 × 531 pixels at 300 DPI, as a sensible default.

What is the JEE Main photo and signature size?

A photograph in colour with 80% face visible including the ears, white background, JPG between 10 and 200 KB, and a signature as a JPG between 10 and 100 KB: the JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin, page 4. The class 10 certificate goes up as a PDF between 50 and 300 KB. The same cap and frame serve both exams.

Can the NEET photo be black and white?

Yes for NEET: the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says colour or black and white. Not for JEE Main, whose 2026 bulletin says the photograph must be in colour. That is the one difference between the two lines. The Color tab's Mono switch turns a photo black and white for a NEET upload if you want it; leave a JEE Main photo in colour as shot.

How do I keep the NEET photo size in KB between 10 and 200?

Both ends are armed on arrival: Max file size at 200 KB and Min file size at 10 KB, so the export lands inside the window. Our reference photo weighs 39.6 KB at 413 × 531, well inside. A file that would land under 10 KB gets more quality, never padding. Only a tiny crop of a tiny photo cannot reach it; the tool says so in words, and a looser crop or a larger photo fixes it.

What about the live photograph in the form?

The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin says a live photograph is also captured while the form is filled, on top of the uploaded one. It also says the photograph and the signature cannot be corrected later. The NTA's notice of 11 March 2026 then reopened the signature from 12 to 14 March, but never the photograph. So check the photo once more before you press upload.

What size is the NEET postcard photo?

In 2026 it is not uploaded, so it has no KB size. The NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin asks for one printed postcard size (4 × 6 inch) colour photo with a white background, pasted on the proforma downloaded with the admit card (page 47). The 2025 form uploaded it at 10 to 200 KB, and a 2020 notice at 50 to 300 KB; neither applies now.

Can a cyber cafe do a batch of applicants here?

One photo at a time in the editor, each opening with the frame pressed and the 200 KB cap still armed, so the loop is drop, drag, Save, next. Every save lands in the same download list with its size printed, and a ZIP collects them. Set the cap to 100 KB for the signatures and run a second loop. The free allowance is 300 images a day, with no account.

Do you keep my photo and signature?

No. We keep nothing: files are processed and wiped automatically, never archived and never used for anything else. Saving strips EXIF metadata, including the GPS location a phone writes into the file, so the photo and the signature you upload carry no record of where they were taken. There is no account, no watermark and no charge.
